Unveiling My Personal Wellness Plan for 2025: A Holistic Approach to Health and Happiness
As we step into 2025, I reflect on the incredible journey we’ve had over the past decade at OC Nutrition Coaching. Today, I’m writing to you not just as a nutrition coach, but as a wife and mother of two—roles that bring so much joy and purpose to my life. My goals for this year are shaped by my desire to have more energy, patience, and long-term health so I can be fully present for my family.
At OC Nutrition Coaching, goal-setting has always been a cornerstone of our practice. Personally, I sit down to review and refine my goals at least once every quarter, and I encourage you to do the same. To inspire you, I’m sharing my 5 top wellness goals for 2025 and how I’m working toward them in a way that supports my family, my health, and my overall happiness.
1. Focus on Heart Health: Prepare Low-Saturated Fat Meals (and limit sugar)
Heart disease remains the leading cause of mortality globally, according to the NIH, and it’s a reality that has hit close to home for me. With my family history in mind, I’m putting heart health at the top of my priority list this year. Through cholesterol testing with my doctor including ApoB levels, dietary experiments, and the 3x4 genetic testing we offer at OC Nutrition Coaching, I’ve learned that I’m particularly sensitive to saturated fats and sugars.
When I limit fatty meats and full-fat dairy products, my cholesterol levels, including ApoB, improve significantly. Limiting sugar also improves heart health markers as sugar is inflammatory.
Not everyone responds to saturated fat the same way, which is why personalized nutrition is so important. If you’re curious about how your diet impacts your heart health, we’re here to help you uncover the answers through testing and customized support.
Pro Tip: Don’t guess—test! Whether you’re managing high cholesterol or simply want to be proactive about your health, we can help guide you through it.
2. Prioritize Relaxation and Meditation
Life as a wife and mother is beautifully busy, but it can also be overwhelming at times. I’ve discovered that taking even a few moments to meditate or relax each day makes all the difference in how I show up for my family. This year, I’m continuing my routine of listening to Tara Brach meditations on YouTube to reset my mind and bring calm into my day.
Relaxation isn’t just good for your mental health—it’s a secret weapon for maintaining a healthy weight. Stress plays a huge role in eating habits, hormones, and even gut health. If you’re looking to reduce stress, I’d love to help you develop relaxation strategies that fit seamlessly into your busy life.
3. Limit or Avoid Alcohol
Cutting back on alcohol has been a game-changer for me. It’s my secret weapon for staying patient, especially in the chaos of parenting! Beyond that, avoiding alcohol helps regulate my appetite, improve my mood, and even supports better sleep quality—all essential for staying energized and grounded as a mom and coach.
Looking to cut back or quit? I can help you create realistic strategies that align with your lifestyle and goals.
4. Follow a 6-Month Gut Health Protocol
Earlier this month, I received my GI-MAP test results—a powerful diagnostic tool that we use at OC Nutrition Coaching to uncover hidden imbalances in gut health. My results showed an underperforming immune barrier and a lack of beneficial bacteria, which explained some of the digestive and energy challenges I’ve been experiencing.
Thanks to a personalized supplement plan by Katie Chapmon, I’m already seeing improvements and look forward to feeling even better in 2025. If you’ve ever wondered how your gut health might be impacting your energy, digestion, or immunity, the GI-MAP test is a fantastic place to start. It’s one of the most effective tools we offer to help clients get to the root of their health concerns.
5. Protect Myself from Burnout
As a mom, wife, and business owner, I know how easy it is to put everyone else’s needs first—until burnout hits. I’ve been there before, and I’ve learned the hard way that prioritizing rest and recovery is essential. For me, that means starting my mornings with deep breaths and water instead of coffee, taking calming supplements like rhodiola and magnesium, and sticking to a regular bedtime routine.
Burnout isn’t just about being tired—it impacts your mood, metabolism, and long-term health. If you’re feeling “tired but wired” or constantly on edge, let’s work together to create a personalized plan to restore your energy and resilience.
